Glacier National Park, established in 1910 is located in the northern most part of Montana and includes the Montana Rocky Mountains. Known at one time to have over 150 glaciers in the park, there is now unfortunately documentation of the decline in size and even disappearance of many of these glaciers. It is a spectacular wilderness area, wonderful for hiking and backpacking and home to grizzly bears, mountain goats, and big horn sheep. There are mountain peaks, alpine lakes and mountain meadows with beautiful vistas and stunning scenery at every turn. Glacier is part of the Waterton Glacier International Peace Park and in 1995 designatied as World Heritage Site.
